DFI DAY 2
DFI Day Rua: Workflow session:
Today, Friday the 6th of August is my 2nd DFI session. We explored more online tools such as Hapara, Google Keep, Gmail, Google Calendar, managing tabs (The tips and tricks for grouping and pinning were great and will come in handy)
Another great session today - I had fun creating images for my google keep and added a theme to my gmail (all about making things look pretty and personalised).
Hapara -
Accessing "All classes" - I wasn't aware this was an option, this is great especially when in other classes and with other groups of students, this will be an easy way to share out documents and learning.
Google Keep -
This is a great revelation for me. This tool will be great for having notes both on phone and laptop (personal and professional) - accessible anywhere and having the ability to share with others.
When doing PD, this would be a good resource to take a photo and 'transcribe' notes from paper to google keep to easily transfer this online OR using voice memo to upload.
Another use for this app is to hold comments that you frequently use. These can be easily accessed from the side bar on your blog, google doc, reports etc and access the saved comments in google keep to add to the document.
Gmail -
Scheduling an email to send at a later time - This is a helpful tool that can be used for my class - scheduling an email to be sent out at a certain time so students can access it.
Tab maintenance -
These tips for pinning, closing and grouping tabs will be useful in class to ensure they are managing their tabs to ensure this is not interfering with the processing of their chromebook.
Bookmarking tabs and grouping these tabs will also be useful for students - quite often my class can forget where things are located. This way it saves time and they can easily find their sites.
Google meet/Embedding codes onto our blogs -
We were paired up with someone else from our bubble and spent some time reflecting on a students blog post. We were utilising the 'present' and 'record' tools on Google Meet. From there, we learnt how to embed these Google Meet recordings onto our blogs - As seen below.
Rebecca I love your to do lists. They look great visually. I know that you will be right on to it with these tools. Looking forward to checking out your class blogs and see how you have translated the learning.
ReplyDeleteKa pai Rebecca. I'm also a huge Keep fan! Making notes is easy in Keep and if you find the notes get a bit too much you can convert a Keep note straight into a Doc which is handy. It will be interesting to see what else you find it useful for. It's great that you're thinking about what will be useful for your students. Bookmarking commonly used sites is a huge timesaver for them!
ReplyDeleteRebecca,
ReplyDeletegreat work with the Meet recording and working with your buddy then embeddign it here in your blog.
Love the coordinated colours in your Keep notes!
Awesome Rebecca! I have to say when working with children things definitely have to be pretty and personalised lol. I definitely agree with pinning tabs and bookmarks because I have the same issue with my students too with getting the different apps and sites mixed up! Love the how you have personalised your keep notes, I also tried personalising mine up and the bitmoji's are always fun to add. Will see you later on😊
ReplyDeleteYour mahi looks amazing - I will definitely be trying to be more creative in my approach.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking at how different people take the same info and present in a huge variety of ways - such an insight into our thinking processes!
