DFI DAY 5

 DFI Day Rima: Collaborating: Sites

Visibility was the keyword today, with a focus on teaching and learning. Access to learning needs to be barrier free (Accessible, Available, Advanced).Visibility also includes colleagues, not only for accountability, but to share knowledge and ideas. Engaging the 'hook' through multi modal modes. This made me reflect on my own Class Site. Today I had a go at creating a "multi modal" site to add onto my own class site.

The Multitext data-base we were introduced to is super helpful. I will definitely use this to create more reading comprehension tasks to upload to my class site for students to be working through over lockdown. I love how interactive and structured the sites we viewed were. I took a few tips away from some to lay out my own Site. It is great to see what is available to tap into, and how I can contribute to these resource banks is exciting and motivating.

Below is the new site I created with multiple topics (NZ history, Dinosaurs, Gold Rush, Identity and Science Fiction) that will engage a range of learners. I learnt how to link this site to my original class site as a tab so students can easily access this learning.

  1. Ka pai Rebecca. The site looks great. It's always good to see multiple modes of text as well as plenty of student choice. Good thinking to use some of the resources we came across today. This might be a good opportunity to model attributing the sites where you got some of the texts and activities from. See you next week!

  2. Rebecca - you were busy today at DFI creating all these sites. Have you got any resources to add to the mulit-text database to share with others? The more we add the better the data base becomes.
