DFI DAY 3

            DFI Day Toru: Media session

We explored more online tools such as Youtube, Google Drawings & Google Slides. This session emphasised the word CREATE and its role in education in Aotearoa over time. We looked at how crucial creating is to the development of cognitive function and the place that it has through all levels of education.

Youtube:

The Youtube playlists will be something I will take back into the classroom. These will be useful to assist students learning in Maths by finding tutorials and adding these to a playlist which can be embedded on our class site. Today I created a maths playlist containing some "go to" videos that I often use to support students Math learning. I added the link to my class website so students can access these easily. It is a much safer way to direct students to Youtube videos.

Google Drawings:

We also looked into Google Drawings. I have used this in the past to create buttons for my class site and logos. This will be something that I will continue to use for the class site, or allow students to spend time using the application to create. The image below was made using Google Drawings and replaced my previous profile image on my professional blog.

Google Slides:

We were given a few hints and tips around the use of slides for presenting that will help with future presentations. Below is my attempt at creating a pick-a-path presentation using Google Slides. This will be something I will continue to work on and utilise in my classroom as a check in/reward system as there are multiple ways to utilise this tool.

I look forward to taking some of these new skills back into our hub to encourage more "creating" to showcase learning within our hub!
