DFI DAY 7
DFI day whetu: Devices
Rangiwhāwhā - or ubiquitous refers to learning that can take place anywhere, any place, and for anyone. This concept was at the forefront in 2020 and this month across all of Aotearoa, as we went into sudden lockdowns. This emphasised the need for students to have access to learning/support at all times without the constraint of traditional school hours. This allows rewindable and visible learning to be accessed by students and their whānau from outside of the school settings.
As a result of the first lockdown in 2020, this created urgency to have learning available digitally (Class Site). This was beneficial to the return to learning in the classroom as it created more rewindable learning. Being part of Manaiakalani this year also further enhanced the rewindable learning through student blogs, tracking sheets etc. This was super helpful this year as my students were prepared from the get go this year with the knowledge to use all of these tools outside of the classroom, especially now that I have been out of school attending the Digital Fluency Intensive and during the lockdown this month. Our regular routine was/is able to continue, students and relievers have access to our timetable, requirements and resources, and all relevant links.
Digital dig:
My school does not use Ipads, we are 1:1 with Chromebooks. This is where I will be focusing my efforts. It was really beneficial to explore and learn more about using Chromebooks so that I can better assist my students with any queries they may have. "Digital fluency begins with the ability to use the device". Learning the different shortcuts available on Chromebooks was super handy and something I will utilise in the future.
Rebecca,
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing your reflections about lockdown and the place of ubiquitous learning. And as you pointed out when you have your class site functioning well it also provides rewindable learning.
Good work with Screencastify. It is such a great tool for us and students.

Kia ora Rebecca,
ReplyDeleteGreat reflection. Awesome to see you are taking what you've seen in DFI and applying it to your own practice . I've used Screencastify a few times now for tutorials, but I'm still not entirely comfortable with it yet.
