DFI DAY 9

 DFI Day Waru: External Recognition

Today is our final day of DFI where we get to put everything we have learnt over the last 9 weeks into practice. The certification exam went well and provided a lot of time so that everyone could experience success. My biggest takeaways from DFI would be around visibility, create, and sharing. These skills will be taken back to my classroom/school to share with my students and colleagues.

Visibility/Accessibility:

During DFI, it was brought to my attention the importance of 'visibility & 'accessibility' to ensure students and whanau can access all learning at anytime and anywhere. I took steps to ensure all learning on my site was accessible for everyone, to take away any barriers students and whanau may have. I also added my classroom timetable and planning (including Learning Intentions) to my site so that learning is visible and rewindable. Being apart of DFI has encouraged me to use my site more often to provide learning and resources to students more than before as I am now fully equipped with knowledge to ensure it is visible and accessible without doubling the workload.

Sharing:

DFI provided an opportunity for me to see all of the different apps and resources out there that provide our students with alternative ways to learn through creating etc. As a Teacher it was awesome to see the huge emphasis on creating and sharing coming through in this course (sharing resources, sharing blogs, creating tasks etc) as it highlighted the importance for our students to be creating and sharing their learning and ideas.

The DFI coaches/community were all very approachable and provided a great environment to share ideas/learnings which will benefit our tamariki.

Ngā mihi nui,

Rebecca
